Borderlands rampages over onto Switch in May. Here are 5 reasons why you should pick it up!
Borderlands is a first-person shooter franchise developed by Gearbox Software. The franchise has cemented itself as the true founder of the looter shooter genre. Borderlands: Legendary Collection was recently announced for the Nintendo Switch. This means that a bunch of new fans will be hopping aboard the loot train. Borderlands: Legendary Collection includes 2009’s Borderlands, 2012’s Borderlands 2, and 2014’s Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. These games are a worthy addition to any Switch collection. Borderlands is definitely worth checking out, and here’s why.

All DLC Is Included
Not only will you have access to three amazing games, but all the extra content is available too! Borderlands and Borderlands 2 saw the release of four major story expansions. These are worth playing, especially the Dungeons and Dragons inspired Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon’s Keep for Borderlands 2. The DLC expands the Borderlands universe in a variety of different ways. Saying no to all that is preposterous. More characters are also available in this content, so there are easily hundreds of hours to play through.

Off The Rails Comedy
One of the franchise’s greatest strengths is its writing. Borderlands is known for its crude and often shocking humor. Whether it be a horse named “Butt Stallion” or a robot with the inability to climb stairs. There’s always something to laugh at. Sometimes you’ll question what’s going on, but after a while, you just accept it for what it is. Borderlands is just weird and you’ll come to see why. STAIIIIIIIRRRRS????? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

You Can Play It All In Co-Op
All the games in the collection can be played entirely in co-op. This includes two-player local split-screen or up to four players online. Some of the content is best explored with a friend or two, so it’s definitely worth trying. However, if a single-player experience is what you’re looking for, that’s also an option.

LOOT Baby!
Borderlands is all about that sweet sweet loot. As you shoot your way through hordes of psychopaths and robots, various guns and other goodies await you. The game utilizes a rarity scoring system to determine the potency of said loot. Loot is categorized in White, Green, Blue, Purple and Orange color variations. Borderlands also give you a little acronym to remember this. When Grandma burps, Patrick Obeys. It’s utter nonsense, but you can’t help but smile.
GUNS, GUNS AND MORE GUNS!
The Borderlands series boasts action-packed first-person shooting fun. Well you can’t have a shooter without cool weapons, can you? The arsenal in Borderlands is extremely varied. There are guns that shoot like eight explosive rounds at once. Don’t get me started on the gun that has infinite ammo, that thing is a ton of fun to use. When they say a gazillion guns, they really mean it. Even to this day I still discover new weapons, and I’ve been playing since launch. There’s no doubt I’ll encounter more goodies on the go.
There you have it, you now have plenty of reasons to pick this collection up. Borderlands is a great franchise and it’s exciting to see it come to Nintendo Switch. If you’re thinking of reasons not to buy it, then just think of the sweet loot instead. That’ll change your mind. If not, there’s always the pony made out of diamonds or that robot I mentioned. Borderlands: Legendary Collection launches on May 29. That’s a big day for Switch owners. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, XCOM 2 and Bioshock: The Collection all launch that day too. There’s plenty to choose from.
Will you be slaughtering bandits on the go? I know I will!
