Fan-Made Trailer Portrays Zelda In A Paper Mario-Inspired Aesthetic

YouTube channel 64 Bits has created a fan-made Zelda trailer in the style of Paper Mario. This “crafted parody” was uploaded on April 1 and franchise fans – including myself – have been going crazy about it.

Throughout the trailer, we see the portrayal of various moments in the Zelda franchise. Pretty much every major mainline entry is showcased here, including the likes of Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, The Wind Waker, and much more. It even includes a paper re-imagining of the trailer for the upcoming sequel to Breath of the Wild.

Paper Mario’s signature timing-based combat is featured here, but with that Zelda charm. We see Link get trampled by dozens of Cuckoos, easily the biggest villain. Music from the franchise also gets that Paper Mario treatment, this parody covers all bases. Although it may be fan-made, the fact that this concept doesn’t exist brings me great sadness. I’d love to see Paper Zelda come to life as an official title.

It may be unlikely, but I really hope Nintendo considers this parody as a proof of concept. Paper Zelda would be a dream come true.
