As Animal Crossing: New Horizons is fastly approaching, let’s look at some of the new features.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is just around the corner and you may be wondering, “What are some new features?” That is a good question. Let’s look into that.
Where in the world is my island?!
In previous entries, you were bound to the same seasons, weather, and scenery in every single town. This wasn’t bad but it could sure get tiring seeing the same things in a year-long loop. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, however, you can choose the hemisphere that your island is a part of, syncing with similar weather conditions as the real world counterpart! You can now get accurate weather if you live in the southern hemisphere. It’s definitely a small feature, but one that I am very welcoming to.
How does multiplayer work?!
The game allows for four people on a single system to play together! Animal Crossing has never before been able to have couch co-op, making this a very welcome feature. But do not worry! If you have more friends, you can have up to eight players on an island at a time. Playing online has been a staple of the series since it’s second iteration Animal Crossing: Wild World, so of course, they have to up the ante this time!
So, I hear crafting is in the game now?!
Yep! Animal Crossing: New Horizons features crafting. A very small, but at the same time massive, feature that will change the entire way the game is played. Instead of just waiting to maybe find the item you want in the store one day, basic furniture is craftable! This is now also how you gain the tools in-game, which is very different from just buying them from Tom Nook. You can search for crafting supplies all-around from trees and rocks that you can find around your island.
Anything new to do with furniture?!
Absolutely! You can now place furniture outside, a feature that has been long wanted by series veterans. You can design your entire island as you see fit!
What’s gonna happen to all of the designs I made in the older titles?!
Well, for one, you can move designs from Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Animal Crossing: New Leaf to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can do this by using NookLink, via the Nintendo Switch Online app.
Does Animal Crossing: New Horizons support cloud saves?
Sadly, the game does not support cloud saves. You won’t be able to have your island move to another Nintendo Switch. Nintendo is offering a one-time solution if your Nintendo Switch is lost or broken, that you are able to transfer save data. But after that, no cloud saves!
Is Animal Crossing: New Horizons Amiibo compatible?!
Yes! You can use the Amiibo and Amiibo cards to hold a photoshoot session with your favorite villagers! It’s a small feature, but it seems to be really fun!
Wait, I can change the layout of my town?!
Yep! For the first time in series history, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will allow for complete customization. You can expand areas with more land or completely remove ground all together to create new ledges and even waterfalls!
With two days left until we all get our hands on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are so many features that we hope for you to explore and discover for yourself! Hopefully, we have covered enough details to help you get started on your brand-new island life when the game launches on March 20, 2020.
