In preparation of Pokémon Day, Nintendo revealed its poll which allowed fans to sift through the 900+ Pokémon to choose which is the best.
In commemoration of Pokémon Day 2020, not only did Nintendo opt to add an uncatchable Mewtwo to the Max Raid Battles in Sword and Shield and add Kanto region starters for a limited time, but they also conducted a poll to conclude what the top pocket monster of the year is. The poll, which revealed its Thursday, showcased the top 30 Pokémon of the year. It wasn’t limited to just the recent generations either, all Pokemon were welcome to be chosen from the rock with arms to the floating keychain or the literal garbage… oh, and Pikachu, too.
Among the contenders, older gens had participants including Gengar, Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Eevee, Gardevoir, Scepile, Blaziken, Flygon. Meanwhile, newer gens have entries including Snom, Dragapult, Corviknight, Lycanrock, Rowlet (with Decidueye lower on the list), and Mimikyu.
