Nintendo is planning to release Mario titles new and old this year.
In a report from Eurogamer, multiple sources have told them that Nintendo is planning a huge celebration for the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchise.
To celebrate 35 years of Super Mario goodness, Nintendo will announce re-releases of a majority of the series’ backlog. This supposedly includes the likes of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy.
Nintendo is also planning to release several new installments, including a new Paper Mario game and a deluxe version of Super Mario 3D World.
These are apparently scheduled to be announced alongside new details of Nintendo’s partnership with Universal. This includes the upcoming Super Nintendo World theme park and the animated Mario movie by Illumination.
We already know about the LEGO partnership, as LEGO Super Mario sets were announced recently. It seems like there is a lot in store for the mustachioed plumber in 2020. The reveal was originally going to take place at E3 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, plans are currently being reviewed.
