TY The Tasmanian Tiger 5 Could Be Made, Krome Just Needs A Bigger Budget And Crew

TY The Tasmanian Tiger 5

TY The Tasmanian Tiger 5 could be a reality, Krome Studios just need a bigger crew and a much bigger budget.

The budget is the bane of all developers’ existence. From production costs on a film to the development of a video game. Where the credits are long in movies, games are beginning to feel that way as well. People have small jobs and those jobs pay. This is why – despite the desire of Krome Studios – they’re not sure when TY The Tasmanian Tiger 5 would ever come out.

While speaking with Nintendo Everything, Krome Studios head, Steve Stamatiadis, expressed how the team would love to not only bring the other entries of the franchise to the Switch and other consoles. Tacked onto their desire to bring their mascot to the new generation, they did discuss the idea of a TY The Tasmanian Tiger 5 as a possibility.

Fans shouldn’t hold their breath for the game though, as it would need a much bigger budget and team, something the indie studio simply doesn’t have.

“Yes, of course we have, we’ve had several discussions. If we did a TY 5, we would do it as a 3D platformer. It’s also a resource issue. For that type of game, we’d need a much bigger team size, budget, everything is so much bigger. What we would want to achieve isn’t something that could be done on a shoestring budget.”

It isn’t fully their fault, though, for not having enough money. People have – admittedly – been spoiled by high-quality and high-octane graphics that led to anything short of that looking… weird to some.

“With today’s expectations of what the graphics and everything should look like now, it’s such a much bigger budget. The scale is pretty huge. Back in the day, the core TY1 team was around 20-25. We’re about 12 people now.”

TY The Tasmanian Tiger took the leap onto the Switch back in April. It’s had a seasoned history, though, dating back to the GameCube days.
